Free State Project Turns Five
The Free State Project is now five years old, and has a long list of successes under its belt. The biggest goals still lie in the future, though, and we need every bit of help we can get. Check out the Ridley Report's great retrospective/promotion video.
2009 LIBERTY FORUM - Speakers list firming up!
The Liberty Forum team received an overwhelming response to our offers for speaking opportunities. Some of the speakers confirmed so far are:
- John Taylor Gatto, author of Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling and The Underground History of American Education. Mr. Gatto will speak to us about his new book, scheduled for release this month, Weapons of Mass Instruction. He has also graciously agreed to do a book signing!
- Angela Keaton, Development Director from antiwar.com
- Gary Franchi, National Director of Restore the Republic
- Adam Kokesh, from Iraq Veterans Against the War
And, just confirmed! Dick Heller will be our Saturday night Keynote Speaker along with Dane von Breichenruchardt, President of the Bill of Rights Foundation!
See all confirmed speakers on our website and check back often for new additions. And while you're there, take advantage of early bird pricing by registering now!

FSP In The News
The Independant, one of Britain's nationally-distributed newspapers, published an article on September 20 about New Hampshire in general and several times mentioning the Free State Project and the efforts of the porcs already in the state. The tone of the article is fairly amusing, seemingly a combination of honest admiration and the sort of admiration you feel when you watch alligator wrestling. It's a fun read, and a good thing to show your almost-convinced friends.
According to the Concord Monitor, the porcupines of the Free State Project are partially responsible for the New Hampshire Libertarian Party being able to run a full ticket of candidates this year, and hopefully become an officially recognized major party in the state, with no need to collect signatures before appearing on the ballot.
The Buchanans and their Walk for Liberty project have made the news again, this time in the Beloit Daily News and the Mankato Free Press. Will and Brooke Buchanan are painting a swath of local coverage of the Free State Project right across the country!
Action of the month Oct 08 - Cry
Yes, It's time to cry. Shed a tear for the republic. Weep over lost liberties. Let flow your sadness for the founders' price squandered. Go ahead, collapse into a spasmodic, lachrymose bag of blood and bones on the floor. Then arise. Raise your chin. Lift your eyes to take in the shining beacon on the hill that is the Free State Project. Though we are 700 billion dollars poorer today, and we will either be an Obamanation or McCainangrad in November, there is still hope. The Porc calls to us, raising us up from the blubbering pit of despair to the freedom and liberty of New Hampshire. Dry your eyes, put on your brightest smile, and tell the others whose eyes are damp with despondence that there is something to feel optimism about, the growing freedom in The Free State. The sanguine land of brave men and women, who love freedom and are willing to do what it takes to get it, will clear the tears of future neighbors. Let us strike while the iron is hot, while people's indignations are fired red-hot by the prevarications of the politicians seeking to win the "advance auction". There is no better time than now, and just after, the electoral violations of the American public by the major parties to spread the words of freedom. Seek out the political gatherings, search for those with moist eyes, quivering lips, and sickened looks on their faces - these are the people who need a shoulder, these are the people who need the sweet, hopeful words of liberty whispered in their ear. And we, the Participants and Friends of the FSP have the absorbent shoulders and the gentle voices that will show the way to Liberty in Our Lifetime. The Free State Project and New Hampshire: hope and facial tissue for the dark days ahead.
Merchandise
We have a limited number of 2008 PorcFest T-shirts available - check the website for size availability. There are still a few 2008 Liberty Forum shirts available as well. Speaking of shirts, we have older event shirts too. Now don't give me any grief about "I wasn't there", or "That was a while ago". If you have a problem with owning a shirt from an event you didn't attend, just get a marker and put "I should have gone to..." in front of the title, or "I missed a great time at...", or "I wish I hadn't just gotten the shirt from..." Besides, it does none of us any good to have these shirts sitting on the shelf when they could be out there in the world advertising for the FSP (and all the fun we have). By the way, the older shirts are less expensive, as if you needed any more motivation.
The Free State Project is an effort
to recruit 20,000 liberty-loving people to move to New Hampshire. We
are looking for neighborly, productive, tolerant folks from all walks
of life, of all ages, creeds, and colors who agree to the political
philosophy expressed in our Statement of Intent, that government
exists at most to protect people's rights, and should neither provide
for people nor punish them for activities that interfere with no one
else. freestateproject.org
