The Tennessee FSP Local Group has started off the year with a recruitment challenge! For every person who joins the FSP in January 2006, the TN FSP will donate ten dollars to the FSP. This is the perfect opportunity for fence sitters to hop off the fence and join - do you know any fence sitters? Vince Silvia has also pledged to match the TN FSP with an additional ten dollars, and he challenges any other Free Stater to match him. Join today!

The FSP wins Freedom Organization of the Year with NH Underground coming in second in a recent poll at Strike the Root. NH Porcupine activist Russell Kanning won second place for Freedom Fighter of the Year!

In its latest Tax & Budget Bulletin, No. 29 - January 2006, the Cato Institute examined the size of state and local bureaucracy. New Hampshire residents enjoy the fourth smallest state and local bureaucracy.

New Hampshire's state and local tax burden, as a percentage of income, fell in 2005 for the third straight year according to the Tax Foundation. New Hampshire also retains its second lowest state and local tax burden for the same three year period.

The Beacon Hill Institute released its State Competitiveness Report 2005 and New Hampshire ranks second in the nation in terms of economic competitiveness.

The FSP is currently seeking enthusiastic and creative volunteers to fill the following positions. We have several exciting positions available as we revamp and expand the New Hampshire Information area of the FSP website. These positions include:

NEW HAMPSHIRE REAL ESTATE AND HOUSING INFORMATION COORDINATOR - This individual will research and keep their finger on the pulse of things related to real estate and housing in the Free State. Useful tasks include becoming familiar with real estate and housing resources in the state, being informed on housing trends within the state and being able to direct folks interested in moving to New Hampshire to resources to help them find places to call home.

NEW HAMPSHIRE RESEARCHER/WRITER - We'd like to find someone who can research New Hampshire's history, climate, and/or recreation opportunities and more and do custom write ups on them for our website and New Hampshire Information brochures. If you like research and writing, this is the job for you. Being in-state is not necessary for this task.

FSP NEWS REPORTER - A reporter to cover Porcupine activism and liberty news in New Hampshire. Keep note of stories and links throughout the month and report for the monthly newsletter.

FSP EVENTS COORDINATOR - Keep tabs on all the events happening around the country where the FSP might gain recruits and arrange for FSP representation. Our current Events Coordinator, Sandy Pierre, has moved to the Free State and is focusing on in-state activism, but she will be able to help her successor get up to speed. VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR PROJECT MANAGERS – If you like working with people and projects, I could really use some help in following up with our increasing number of enthusiastic volunteers, finding the best roles to fit their visions and talents, and helping them nurture their projects to fruition. Note that several people can fill this position.

In New Hampshire

New Hampshire Liberty Alliance announces that Keith Murphy was elected the new Membership Director. In a surprise tie membership vote with Joel Rauch, Keith won a Liberty Dollar coin toss. The NHLA has plans to promote liberty in 2006 including legislative training sessions at the State House in NH, Mock Town Meetings, so new people can see how town meetings work, reviewing of the hundreds of Bills that are submitted to the NH General Court, the annual Liberty Dinner and the NH Legislator Index.

The NH Underground's 2005 Year in Review covers the many, many activities of this growing group of Free Staters and New Hampshire liberty lovers.

The Second Annual Lloyd Danforth Birthday U.N. Flag Burning took place December 18th. Watch the video that was shot at the event.

"House Bill 1639-FN, prohibits the confiscation of lawfully owned and lawfully carried firearms during a state of emergency, making a felon of any law enforcement officer who attempts to seize such a firearm during a disaster.
